Larkfield Trust Annual report and accounts Registered charity 1098 441 · published 28 February
The year in short INCOME 1.84m up 6% SPENT ON PROGRAMMES 1.51m 82p in the pound PEOPLE SUPPORTED 4,210 up 11% RESERVES 7.2 months target 6 to 9 A year of growing while holding still. Income rose, demand rose faster, and the gap between the two is the thing the trustees spent most of the year discussing. We chose not to open the two new sites that were in last year's plan. Instead we put the money into keeping the eleven we have open five days instead of four. That decision is the reason this report contains fewer photographs of ribbon cuttings than the last one.

What went wrong The waiting list It was eleven days in January and twenty-six by November. We have not solved this and we are not going to pretend otherwise in a report. A grant we lost The Hallam Foundation ended a three-year grant of 180,000 at the end of its term, as was always planned. We had budgeted for a renewal that we had no promise of. That was our error, not theirs. Staff turnover Four of twenty-one people left within two months of each other in the spring. Exit conversations pointed at pay, and pay is what the trustees have raised for the coming year — by 4.1 per cent, funded by not opening site twelve. Trustees and thanks Priya Raghunathan (chair), Michael Oduya (treasurer), Saskia Vermeulen, Tom Blackwood, Grace Ilunga, and Rob Sayer, who stood down in June after nine years and two rescues. Our thanks to 162 volunteers, to the three funders who let us move restricted money when the year turned, and to every person who used the service and then told us, plainly, what was wrong with it.
